Yeah we aren't gonna do any cross country 400 mile a day trips with it. The majority of the ridiing will be myself in town most likely. I just want the ability to do a little bit of a trip here or there and not have her want to die when we get there. Maybe I just need to have her sit on one to get a feel.

Everybody will have a different opinion on this, but it's definitely not a bad ride for across town or even a hundred miles or so for me. If you're not doing the long trips, consider it because it's a fun bike!

She'll hate the stock seat. Even though our test ride was with stock seats, my wife knew before I did that the D was the right bike for us. She also knew the stock passenger seat was going away.
For a two-up day-tripper or over-nighter the V-rodis a great machine. Around town or doing the daily grind it can't be beat. For a major cross country tour, maybe not. The hardest concept for most people to grasp is thatV-rods are just cruisers.Quick, fast, nimble cruisers that (can) get decent gas mileage, but cruisers none the less.

My wife is 5'6" and after a while her legs get really cramped. I have the TallBoy seat which has a good passenger pillion, but it can't do anything for her legs. I think the newer bikes are even worse for leg comfort since they moved the passenger pegs to the frame instead of the swingarm where they used to be.

I believe the D was the first to have them on frame. My wife is only 5'4" and we still have the 3.7 gallon tank. We've considered one of the after market tanks, but 120 miles at a stretch is plenty for the type of riding we do.

My girlfriend is 5'0 90lbs. After a 150 mile ride on NRS,she said the seat was fine, but the foot pegs were a little to high. I have been thinking about machining some brackets to lower them down a little, maybe to the previous model position.

Actually, you can put the pegs from the A and B models on the D or DX IF you have an aftermarket exhaust. The holes are still in the swing arm. They just have rubber caps in them. My wife hated the pegs on the swing arm when we tested an A. She didn't like the feel of the swing arm bouncing her feet.

I have tried a few different seats, and bought the kryaukan (I'm sure I dick ed the spelling up ) long back rest and 2 inch forward foot peg mounts. after that money I bought a swing arm pivot bolt foot peg kit off e-bay. that made her happier. then I bought a road glide to take her on . Now she's finally happy. (except on the 15th of the month when the payments due ! ) If you can swing 2 bikes do it. otherwise you can do maybe 500 mile days with a willing passenger and the parts listed above. P.S.- the footpegs on the new v-rods with the 5 gallon tanks made all the rear foot pegs mount as high as your ninja pegs. Nice move Mo Co !

Do you feel that in your butt? Since the pivot is in front of almost your entire body you would feel a lot of "bounce" too. I think it's probably morepsychological than actual feel but none-the-less makes it a more uncomfortable ride for her. My wife doesn't mind the very slight movement at all.

I don't know what it feels like. Never been back there. I just know she didn't like it.
