Default 03 Vrod. Any concerns?

I might be aquiring a extremely low km unmodified 2003 vrod in a partial trade for a car. Anything I should be concerned about? Anything I should look for? I dont know much (if anything at all) about vrods...

No gotchas I am aware of...like anything else...used is used. It's a great and reliable bike that can take it's share of abuse.

Hope this helps!

There is nothing to the bike that would keep me away from it if it were a good deal. Things have been changed through the years of the V-Rod but none of them are for reliability reasons that I know of. I would say that if you are getting a good deal, enjoy your V-Rod.

There isn't anything on a 2003 that's a deal breaker. I have one, and love it.

In 2004 they went from a 30 tooth front pulley to a 28 to give a bit more low grunt go. They are now all 28 tooth pulleys on all domestic V-Rods.

They upgraded the fuel lines. The 2002's and 2003's were found to be a bit proud and some fuel lines were rubbing on the frame. Mine is still fine, so a visual look will tell you if they need to be changed. If they do, it's a cheap fix.

The newer versions, 2006 and newer have 2 degrees less rake in the triple trees. I don't notice a significant difference in handling.

These are the things I'm asked about the most, so I thought I'd bring it up.

They changed to the 2 degree reduced trees in 2006 only for the VRSCSE2, as I believe the stock trees on my '06 VRSCA were the same as those on a 2002-2005.

After thinking it over, my biggest concern about owning any V-rod would be NOT owning a V-rod. For some reason I find that thought disturbing. (People say I'm disturbed any way.)

Not to belabor the point. The D's in 2006 had 2 degrees less rake in the trees. Same as the VRSCE2. The A's kept the extra rake until the AW in 2007.

It's a moot point, since the bike we're talking about is a 2003.
