Now I don't do a lot of long road trips. \\; Most everything is around town with an occasional long trip. \\; How is the V-Rod on trips over an hour? \\; I just sold the Sporty and have my eye on a 2005 A model local. \\; Thanks for the help!!
A few weeks back we did a trip. \\; We did \\;a 10 hour day with \\;at least 7 hours of \\;seat time. \\; The last hour returning home I started to get a burn across the lower part of my back. \\; Other than that...flawless...just freaking flawless. \\; Go for the A...you won't regret it.

My wife has a 04 VRSCB with Sundowner seat, reduced reached pegs and handlebars, BUB jug huggers and she loves it. We took a 3500 mile trip last year in 2 weeks with longest day being 570 miles, and took a 4200 mile trip in May in 2 weeks with longest day being 640 miles and rest 350 to 500. \\; The 640, she was really tired, but so was I. I have 06 Dyna with touring seat so I can haul all the stuff. \\; She did have small touring luggage she puts on passenger seat to act as back rest. \\; Have been seriously thinking of get v-rod for me, only draw back is amount of luggage you can carry, and not real fond on saddlebags that are offered for v-rod. \\; By the way, wife is grandmother of 3 and mid 50's and has put 22000 since Jan 07 on this bike.
Thanks for the info, what is the range on the standard fuel tank? \\; I made an offer on that 05 V-Rod, and he accepted I should have it next week I can't wait!!!
The stock tank up through 06 will get you up around 120 miles, depending on how you ride. At 80 miles start kind of watching for a gas station, at 100 miles start serioulsy looking. When you get to 120 miles count on pushing it to the next station.
We have done several long day trips and a few overnighters riding double on our D. For long rides the D can't be beat \\;from the riders perspective. It has mids and highway pegs. The ability to move around helps. \\;
We haven't done the big tank yet. Our next mod will be the Arnott air ride, about $1,000. I might do progessive front springs at the same time. The UE tank is about $400. So far, as far as my wife is concerned, our best mod has been a custom sissy bar. Proof of that is last weekend we did 138 miles on GA and AL back roads. Today was 88 miles on GA back roads. The wife is happy. We would have gone farther, but our son just started riding with us on his 82 Honda GL500. Trying to work him up to long rides. \\;
Thanks Billy, that is informative and I might take it on myself. \\; I just found out I pick mine up this Saturday, now I have to wait all week. \\; Bummer.
