I just bought a 2008 Night rod special...and im just looking to give it that true harley sound, or something relatively close. Anyone have suggestions?

I just did a little searcing and found a set called Toxic V Lux...they almost resemble the vance and hines big radius, and they sound pretty mean. Anyone heard of or have these pipes? Thanks
Because the V-rod is not a 45 degree air-cooled twin. Meaning it will not sound like one no matter what aftermarket pipe you bolt on. You'll end up with a louder engine, but not a better sounding one. Ever hear a Honda Shadow with open pipes? And of course, you will LOSE power and torque despite what the ads tell you. Porsche and HD engineers did a good job right out of the box. The best upgrade you can do is to install a PC3 with a stock map to even out the FDA mandated lean maps provided by the factory for the US market. If you want potato potato potato, buy an airhead.
You will definatly lose power with the Toxic V Lux exhaust. The intake is tuned for the stock longer rear pipe, by reversing the tuning (short rear, longer front) it will become a dog. The closest sound you are after would be the rineharts 2-2, some were changing the velocity stacks (both equal)to maintain the power.

I believe you mean better sounding but not better performing. I mean unless you like high powered sewing machines?
No, I meant neither. It won't sound better, and it will go slower. Why would you want a louder sewing machine?
This is a liquid cooled, twin cam, 8 valve 60 degree twin. No similarity to HD airheads other than cylinder count (closer to Ducati than HD airhead). Put open pipes on it and you'll have a very loud sewing machine, that goes slower. Not much different than a Honda Shadow with drag pipes. Yuck!
I just installed the V-lux pipes and they sound awesome. It's matter of losing a few HP versus great looks and sound. Lot's of people will tell about how much HP you'll lose, blah-blah-blah. When was the last time they were at the strip where is makes an actual difference? IMO its what end of the spectrum you want, function or form.
