Not a lot of torque by HD standards but they have the Horses! Stock will be around 70FPT and 105HP to the rear wheel. The power is up around 4K for a stock VRSC
The 1250cc engine (08+) make more torque than the older 1130ccs, the new Mussel is tuned to make power a little lower. But they are horspower, more than torque bikes.
However, you will feel 70ilbs rear wheel tq or a DX more than you'll feel 85ilbs on a big twin, because they have almost twice the gearing. It just comes on higher in the power band.
im s-7 and over square 32 waist 30 inseam and the bike fits me well if she she does go for a nightrod i would suggest geting the harly reach seat. it movesw you 11/2 inches forward on the bike. much better for shorter legs.the bike pulls hard from a stop but because its long and low the front tire stays nicely planted.unlike myxr1200 that will pop the front wheel if you just think about it.
All the V-rods have low seats. If you can find an 06 VRSCD (not a DX), it has the narrow frame. With the low seat height and mid controls, I haven't found anyone that says they aren't comfortable on my bike. I'm 6'2" and love it. My wife is 5'4" and could easily handle the bike if she knew how to ride. The only D rider I know that has a reach seat is only 5' even and she wouldn't trade her bike for anything. Her's is also an 06.
Start with a rider course and small group rides and she should be fine. It's when you can grab a handful of throttle that a V-rod will get you in trouble.
