1250cc less powerful than 1130cc?
I was told today by a older guy that rode a vrod with a 1130 in it that his 1130 has more hp and torque than the 1250 in my night rod special. is this true? me not knowing much at all about the 1130 agreed with him. He also made the comment that my "dx" was more of a cruiser than his "r"?.... I believe he was mad because his wife loved my bike. \\;\\\\\\; [8D]
In stock 07 vs stock 08 form there is 5ilbs of tq and 5hp difference on DXs, for the same weight bike. \\; \\; A tuned 1130cc and tuned 1250cc engine will put out the same power per cubic inch, so expect about 10% more power, that's not a ton, but it's signigicant.
What's even more signigicant is the weight... the 06 and earlier models were about 35ilbs lighter than the 07 and later models, the 06 and earlier 1130cc VRSCs had about the same power/weight ratio (stock) as the 2008/2009 1250cc do, so in terms of performance, they will be about the same, with a very slight esge to the 08/09s.
The 2007s weigh the same as the 08s, but have the smaller engine. \\; Compare an 07 to an 08/09 DX for the best comparison.
Also, the 240mm rear eats power. \\; At the rear wheel a 2006 Night Rod or Street Rod will put out about the same or maybe even more than a 2008 DX at the rear wheel.

this one's off topic but i figure alot of vrod guy's would see it. Anyone planning on coming to galveston for the lone star rally oct. 30-nov. 2nd?
Monk is right when you compare "tuned" scoots, but if you're making the comparison based on stock bikes-at the rear wheel (of the same size)-I would also argue that the 1130cc powered V-Rod is more powerful than the new 1250cc's are.
