About to Buy a Street Rod - Anything I should know?
I'm about to buy a 2006 mandarin orange street rod from the original owner with under 1,700 miles on it that was bought new in February 2008 as a leftover model.
Bike was serviced from the dealer at 1,000 miles in July 2008 and looks absolutely mint. Screaming Eagle slip ons, windshield and a small, low passenger backrest were added. Factory alarm is included, as it the rear light mod that converts the turn signals to rear running lights.
I was concerned about the seat height, I'm only 5'8", but it seemed fine, able to flat foot. The mid position pegs are a bit oddly placed when coming to a stop, but that's a minor annoyance.
Bike rides great, and I can't think a single reason to pass it up.
Parts are a little hard to come by for the R's but not too bad. Go to www.1130cc.com and check out the VRSCR (that is what a street rod is) section. You can ask the guys that have them what they think
Yeah, I am contemplating actually selling a fantastic Ducati Monster and replacing it with a Street Rod. Probably nuts to do so. The Ducati is superb, but that Street Rod just keeps calling.
