i am glad to hear from everyone that it is a great ride. i am very excited about the bike. i take delivery in Feb and have a motorcycle safety course set up already. i wanted something that had some power because i am a big guy. i always liked the classics, but v-rod really got my attention and i got what i feel was an awesome deal on the bike. they made it really hard to say no. thats funny that your wife liked the v-rod mine wanted me on a bagger, but liked this as well

I am looking to purchase an 03 or 04 VRSC-B. Anyone know of a good place to start shopping? I am in no rush to buy, maybe within the next 3 to 4 months.
thanks[8D]

purchased 03 vrod and love it. Great looks, excellent performance and the smoothest ride at all speeds. Fastest so far is 135mph, smooth no hover no shimmy just a perfect ride. You will love it. Don't worry about the "old boys" they are just jealous their ride isn't as nice. Still a Harley Davidson, just helped along by Porche in the development of the engine.

I have an 04 VRSCB and it simply rocks! Fantastic bike! As for a place to shop for one... well obviously HD dealers... I got mine after the 05s were introduced and got a pretty good deal. You can also check EBAY I have seen some VRODs there at good prices and ofcourse you can check out cycletrader.com they always have a selection depending on how far you are willing to travel. Yes Porsche helped it along some but the base of the motor is 100% HD. Seems alot of the "old boys" forget that HD created the engine for the VR1000 race bike. It proved to be not totally reliable so when it came time to drop it in a street bike Porsche stepped in and helped them refine the machine some. I for one love looking at the old school Harley's but having already owned a sport bike never considered myself a "cruiser". The first time I sat on the VROD that all changed. It handles like a dream.. I am still amazed at that and the power is great. The lack of vibration also is a great benefit. I like not having my arms shaken off! The VROD is attracting customers like me... those who before had not even considered a HD and now not only do I have one, I have Tshirts, stickers, hats... 100% sucked into the HD world! The last thing is alot of HD guys will say they ride a Harley to stand out... to be different... well what is more different than a VROD? There is no other bike like it on the road....

Interesting: "It handles like a dream"....not quite the term I would use based on the two test rides I had on V-rods. While it is a beautiful, fresh, creative design, in typical H-D fashion (geddit??) function is sacrificed for visual form. Those stunning disc wheels are superb wind catchers and can give you some, uh...interesting moments in gusty cross wind situations. Guess how I know?!

The power is strong by H-D standards but moderate at best compared to most motorcycles. The biggest complaint I have about the original V-rod is the seating: you are LOCKED into one semi-slouch position which becomes uncomfortable (for me) quite rapidly. The new version should prove to be far more functional to ride on curving roads and more comfortable too.

Have fun and ride safe with your new V-rod! DFO

Did you see the special on Discovery Channel about the birth of V-Rod-

Great Details- I was very impressed (It doesn't hurt to partner with Porsche on engine design!)
