going topless

Default going topless

If i go topless, will i need to do anything to the ecm or can i do it without worrying about the ecm until i change the exhaust and do the power commander upgrade?

Your stock ecm cannot be changed by you, and H-D does not have a flash to change it either, since they do not promote going topless. Topless does allow more air to enter the engine, but with the same amount of fuel, you will be running leaner than you already are. Most H-Ds come from the factory lean. Mine did. The lean condition you create will be there, and opinions vary on whether one should do it to a stock set up or not. You will be much better off with a PC because you can richen up the mix slightly if needed. You should be alright going topless now, but keep an eye on things to make sure the bike is not getting too hot.
