I prefer the look of the older NRS with the disc wheels and headlamp cowling

I miss the look of the headlamp cowling on the previous DX models.

I like the Vivid Black Night Rod Special. Maybe that is why I just put it in the garage.

I'm 6'3" and it fits me just fine.

I rode the 2012 NRS in Vegas last month. Compared to my 2009 NRS, the factor made almost the same mods to the stocker than I made to my bike. Reduced reach bars, better seat, closer pegs. I left my pegs in the stock position, but the old stock pegs have about the same reach to my Suundowner touring seat as the new peg mounts do with the new stock seat. My bar is perhaps an inch closer, which is the only real ergonomic difference.

The new seat is terrific, good enough that I wouldn't have bothered with the Sundowner. Exhaust note is still anemic. New upside down fork, improved suspension front and rear helped by the lighter wheels and reduced rake all combine to make the new bike much more maneuverable without any sacrifice in stability.

In short, the 2012 NRS is definitely a better motorcycle than the 2011 and prior. That said, my 09 has only 4500 miles on it, and I plan to put at least 10 or 15 times that many more on it before I look for something new.

I have just run upon this thread, and I know I'm late writing, but I love my 2012 Night Rod Special So much I had to shear. My NRS is like a spirited stallion the out on the open it will give you all it has and then some more. Around town it is very responsive and handles the town traffic with ease, but when it is called on, it will respond with great response.
I have had mine since March 2012 and have put almost 10,000 miles on it. Rides around around town and as much as 400 miles in one day. It rides great and I was in better shape than the other riders on touring bikes were (I'm 64).
I have put several options in it, but the ones that effected the bike the most was a K&N Filter, Vance & Hines Ex. and RC Components Tuner. This increased mileage 15% and according to my seat of the paints dyno, it will get from 0 to wet your paints very quicke
