V-Rod for long trips
I'm new to the forum, and thank you in advance for your greetings.
I'd like to know how comfortable the V-Rod is for 300+ miles non-stop.
Thank you in advance. : )
When I brought my V-Rod I rode it home from Spokane, Wa. to Boise, Idaho and my lower back hurt from the handlebars. I have replaced the bars and the seat and it's not too bad for long trips now, fun bike to ride, really.
Thanx for your reply. I'm going to buy either a V-Rod or the Fat Bob. I know they are different rides, and I have yet to test drive them.
I'm very intriged with the V-Rod. It's a very impressive bike. The modifications you made is maybe all I'll need.
There will be times I will travel 300+ miles in a day, and perhaps more. I usually stay in town and once every other month I'll travel south to Key West.
I like what you did with the rear fender, looks cool.
Very nice Road King too. I hear alot of raves about the SE 255 cams.
Perhaps I'll get both lol ... that will solve it.
Thanks again and safe journeys.

That's a good consideration for the V-Rod.
Peterson's Harley Davidson South had 4 of them on the floor on the 14th. 2 Muscles and 2 Nightrods I believe. According to my nieghbor who works in the parts dept., there's one left as of the 21st.
I would recommend that you check the www.1130cc.com there are a lot of long distance bikes set up over there.
I looked at the '12 Night Rod but the bars were just "way wrong" for me.
I test rode the '12 for a good distance and just could not get used to riding position. The pegs are reversed so you have less room to stretch out.
Instead I got my '09 AW back (long story) I have it set up to do what I want
It can be a long haul bike with the addition of a MeanCityCycles seat mod
windshield and small tour pack. It can be "pro street" style or it can be a stripped down hot rod with Tab exhaust.
If I were you I would test ride the '12's - with the way their bars are set up
it would be easy to get a higher reach bars on it.
My AW has almost a 6" inch handlebar riser (that was stock) and it fits me perfect and I can ride all day comfortably
Thanks for the warm greetings and advise which I'll take into consideration.
Got some good pointers from all, and I appreciate that.
To me, and I'm sure with the majority, the riding position makes all the difference. So we'll see what's out there.
Thanks again and if I find anything worthwhile mentioning, I'll post it here.
Cheers : )
