Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Inc. has decided that a defect affecting motor vehicle safety exists on all 2012 Model Year and certain 2013 Model Year V-Rod VRSCDX model motorcycles built through August 1, 2012 for the U.S. and world markets and through August 23, 2012 in Manaus, Brazil for the Brazil market. The License Plate Bracket Assembly (P/N 67900032 Dom and 67900033 HDI) may lose retention to the rear fender. This condition may lead to contact with the rear tire which could cause the License Plate Bracket to rotate, possibly damaging the rear brake line. If this condition remains undetected, this may affect rear brake performance, which could result in injury or death of the rider.
We have voluntarily declared this a defect related to motor vehicle safety (Campaign 0148) to allow us to formally recall all affected motorcycles. The remedy is to confirm whether the motorcycle is affected by this recall. If affected, first remove the two rear License Plate Bracket Assembly mounting screws, apply medium strength thread-locking agent and reinstall to the proper torque; then remove the two front mounting screws, replace with the two screws and washers provided in the recall repair kit, apply medium strength thread-locking agent and install the new screws with washers to the proper torque. A service bulletin outlining the repair and credit procedure will follow within 10 days. Based on the schedule our supplier has provided, we expect to have recall repair kits available to order on or before November 1, 2012. Please reference the Service Bulletin for a detailed description of the defect.
that like the rear brake switch that blows out and you loose rear brakes and some even caught on fire. they never did any thing about it though. i found it doesn't take long for brake fluid to soften the paint on the bottom frame as well.

They won't do anything about it unless people file a complaint with the NHTSA.
Most just fix it and go on instead of filing a complaint
