Southern Ms life long rider here. Bought a new 2014 Iron 883 a couple of months ago. Been riding off and on for 48 years. Have had twelve bikes all non Harleys until this one number 13. Lucky 13? Not so sure. Although I was born on Friday 13th. Since I bought the Iron new, these are the mods I've done myself. Handlebars-Bought a set supposedly like the ones that come on the 1200T. The set that came in ended up being the reduced pull version which has a half grip circumference compared to a full grip. Don't like the left grip personally. The stock ones weren't bad I just prefer a more upright position and the hand position these allow. By the way I hadn't seen these on an Iron before I did it and I found out no other mods were required to install these, except adjusting lines and cables a little. Was even able to keep two stock guides in place. Really like the hand position now. Next up was a H-D Badlander seat and passenger pegs. Yes, on the 2014 you have to remove the exhaust to get the right side mount and peg on. Next up I put the H-D backrest and quick release mount on. Issues-1. H-D medallion fell off the front brake caliper. 2. Bolt securing two heat shields in place on front pipe fell off. 3. This allowed a piece to slide down the pipe and etch a piece off the top of the rear brake reservoir. 4. Fuel tank began leaking at the weld where the tank is welded to the bracket that attaches it to the frame. Had these issues corrected at the dealer two weeks ago. Picked the bike up. Drove it across the street and filled up the new tank. 5. The low fuel indicator light would not cycle off. Took to dealer last week and the fuel sender resistor assembly and fuel level sensor were bad and were replaced. Picked it up yesterday and drove it to work today. On way home tonight the instrument light was no working. Tapped it once lightly and wala, it came on. I'm thinking, C'mon man! Bout to be enough already. Anyway, I've enjoyed the post I've read and I hope someone will enjoy this one. Just want this bike to settle down and become dependable. Thanks for reading. Will post up again soon. Ride safe brothers and sisters.
