Hello fellow Harley riders. I'm new here and just recently purchased my first Harley... a beautiful black 2003 Heritage Softail Classic with only 1,500 miles on it. I will post a picture as soon as my camera gets recharged . I have been riding a Honda Spirit 1100 for the last 2 years but needed something better for 2 up interstate travel and the FLSTCI was just the ticket. I was extremely surprised to find my Heritage better balanced and smoother running than the Honda. The Honda does have the edge in the twisties and has a slightly softer ride. While I'm here I would like to ask a question (the first of many to come), this bike came with V & H Straight Shots and would like to tone it down. The neighbors are giving me dirty looks plus I plan on lots of extended trips and the noise is too loud to shout over and makes my ears ring. I am strongly considering putting on the stock exhaust but since it had the stage 1 upgrade would I need to remap. V&H does not offer a quiet baffle for the straight shots anymore.
You will not need a remap when swapping out the exhaust...the Stage I is what requires the remap. Do search, this question has been covered numerous times...you'll probably find a lot of help on what exhaust to put on, and other upgrades as well!
Howdy, welcome to the forum. You bought a Classic with only 1500 miles on, wow, what a good deal. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Enjoy the ride
Glad you found us and hope you'll stick around. If you want to tone it down a little you might think of going with some SEII slip ons fitted to the stock pipes. That'll still give you the Harley sound but won't be as *****-out as the VH. Can't wait for the pics.
Welcome aboard (from another NCer.) Can't wait to see the pics, and good luck w/ the exhaust. I haven't been able to tackle that yet on mine, but look forward to it.
