Thumbs up New Guy. Typical Condundrum

Hello All!

I am getting back into the swing of things. I am 46 and about 20 years ago I had to sell my metric cruiser. Just an 800 but it was fun. I grew up around Harleys and said I would get one some day. Two years ago I purchased an XL 1200 ( everybody at work told me it would be too small ) and it was great to help me get my legs back underneath me. They were right though... it was too small....even more so when mama came on a ride with me.

Then some things changed and I had to sell it to purchase a house. Now I am trying to figure out a replacement. Probably going used... thinking either a Heritage Softail or a Road King.

I would use the bike to commute to work in the summer ( 4 miles each way ) and once in a while go on a cruise with the wife but will not travel far...at least not at first.

welcome....from another newb....

Don't rule out new. After doin some simple math, insentives and far lower interest rate made easy sense to buy new.In fact, since I decided to finance the whole pig,it's costing me about 2000 less than the comperable used models I were looking into. But if you are plunkin down the whole fee you'll probably do better on slightly used.

For me,I loved my Sporty, but I wanted to add tunes,so the stereo I picked out just had an eletra glide classic attached to it.So spend some time thinkin of what the end result looks like and buy accordingly.Road King sounds right in line with your thinking.Great 2 up bike.Perfect 1 up cruiser.Comes with bags.Very low center of gravity makes it about the best handling scooter.JMHO

I considered new but just a little more out of my range. I have found a few RK's 2006-2009 around $9500-$11500 that would probably fit my budget. Have between 25-40K on them. Then I will go back to a Heritage....meh. I will probably end up with a RK
