I have read this site for hoursand believe this where to get answers I am looking for. A very close friend of mine, near 80, has asked me to sell a Harley he had to take in exchange for a debt from a widow. I know nothing about bikes nor does he, so I am here seeking advise. I would take up riding except for atwice broken back, so the little pretty has to go.
I have visited the local (Tucson Arizona) Harley dealer to inquire, they printed out a sheet that shows the bike was originally purchased here in Tucson but not much else about the history of it. They, and a couple of shops that work on Harley's, have told me there is someone somewhere looking for this so I need to get it out for all to see. I do not know how to describe it like I see in the ads on this site so any help would be greatly appreciated. The owner was told numerous things about the bike that I am sure everyone hopes is true when selling and buying. It is suppose to be one of ten, and out of that lot one of two with a kick and electric start as well as numerous other tantalizing "facts" I didn't write down as they sound too good to be true.
The print out from the local dealer says the following if this helps;
Wheel: SP-Laced
Color: 098 - Custom/Special
Model Code: FXST
Model Description: Softail Standard
Model Year: 1985
The motor has V2 on the right side if that matters.
I understand the fact that it hasn't been started in 10years is a negative aspect but that is what I was told.
I would list the VIN # but I haven't seen one listed on this site so not sure if that is a good idea or not. But I understand it tells a lot of info so if it isn't a problem I can add the VIN if its said to be a good idea.
Thank you for your time if you can or want to guide me.
Here is a pic of it, if someone needs different angle shots I can do whatever you want.

If I were you I'd sell it on eBay. Take several good photos and provide a detail description of the bike and its condition. I would also include the Vin #. When you have it listed on eBay post a link on the classified section of this forum. Good luck.
Welcome from Salem, Oregon - Do a search on any search engine to find out about the bike so you can write an ad on craigslist. Check out ebay to see what others are selling the bike for. You should take it to a Harley-Davidson dealer and have them give the bike a once over and make sure it starts, change the fluids, new battery,etc. if you expect to get market value for it.
