I am new to this forum and all. I have heard great things anout this place so here I am. I got my camera to take one photo of my baby. It is an 89 1200 XL Sporty. I tried for 3 years to get this from a friend and he finally gave in. We women can be relentless. I have another that is an 84 Custom Sporty but it has a broken Pinion shaft and is in pieces. I hope to have it up and running in the next month. I am a HOG member and involved with LOH. Our local chapter is great and I have made many new and great friends.
A little about me, I have been a passenger for about 28 years and after a few bad wrecks and a rebuit face, I decieded to go get my license and ride. I got that in Dec. 04. I was one of thr best things I did. I have only about 2000 miles riding solo and plan to ride thru most of the winter here. The winters here are somewhat mild and can be a little wet. I took my classes in the rain so it is not so scary. Well here is a photo of my "89" and the "84" Custom is done I will get a photo of it up too.
hi penny,
welcome here and hope you enjoy the place. sounds like you've done your share of riding two up and congrats on making the move to solo. nice looking bike and it sure does seem like you're getting used to it real quick. stay safe and keep riding...

Thanks for the welcome. I really enjoy the do it yourself section and have found some great info. In the pic I posted the blue Sporty behind mine is one I just helped rebuild. It is a stock 1980 Sporty. I am now working on one I bought last year on eBay (never do that again). After putting less than 800 miles on it The pinion shaft broke and as we are going thru it the $$$ are adding up fast. Multiple problems. Someone took an "84" Sporty and decided to put 1340 jugs and high compression heads on it. Oh and a stroker kit. Sure it can do wheelies in all 4 gears but no one thought about all problems a conversion like that can cause. So since the damage is done we are rebuilding it back up the same and I hope we dont have to do this every year. You see this "84 " was my first bike to ride solo on. Well I did not like the wheelie thing just starting out so I was happy to get My "89" Sporty, The green one in the photo. It is a stock 1200 and I like so much better. SO the "84" I gave to my boyfriend. We love to build the bikes together. Well we hope to get a Heritage Softail next year. As we get our bike up and running I will post some new pics.
