Hope everyone is well and looking forward to the good weather ( in the uk anyway lol )
My names darren, I'm 33 and live in Southampton uk.
I've always grown up with bikes, my dad was in a couple of back patch clubs and he purchased a 1997 Dyna wide glide from new and owned it ever since.
Well unfortunately he's been quite ill for the past few years. A couple of heart attacks, mini stroke, triple heart bypass and now he has a abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Hence he can no longer ride his bikes.
So he said to me take the Harley clean it up and insure it. So I did
Took it out for its first ride today and loved it

The spec if I can get it all correct so please excuse any mistakes is
The bike is a 1997 fxdwg
Stage 3 dynojet
Custom paint
High compression Pistons
High lift cams
Ported and flowed head
Vance and Hines exhaust
Mikuni hsr 42mm carb
I think that's all lol.
Anyway just wanted to say hi all and look forward to being a part of the forum and learning more and getting some advice.
Especially about starting the bike, I know I need to get some manual de-compression releases fitted. But in the mean time any advice and knowledge about how the starter clutch works and why it makes a horrid noise because of the high compression Pistons would be greatly appreciated.
Here's a pic.
