I just bought my first brand new motorcycle last month, a Street 750. I am in love with this thing, it's so nice to have a fuel injected bike and where everything is factory fresh! I previously had ridden older metric bikes and dirt bikes mainly. My previous machine was a '78 Honda CX500 in college, which got me interested in V Twins. I've only put about 400 miles on it so far but I'm looking forward to some road trips in the future. A slip on or custom exhaust is definitely on my mod list though.
I'm curious if people do "bike shows" like in the car scene? I see a lot of local places around me that have weekly shows/meet ups for classic cars, late model sports cars etc. [Cars and coffee etc.] Anything like that for bikes? I'd be interested in going to something in NJ or Philly.
Welcome to the HD Forums Joe and congrats on your new ride!
Since the idea of having a bike is to ride it, unlike a classic car which does not get a lot of ride time, where I find local "bike shows" are generally during bike rides where different riders meet at a certain place to wait for others to arrive before a ride. Many of these rides are charity runs and gather a good amount of bikes, so essentially it becomes a bike show!
Thanks for the link Mike, I'll check that out. I definitely intend to ride the wheels off this thing and keep it for a long time. I'm also into cars, as I'm sure a lot of people here are, it's interesting to see the differences between the cultures.
Are there any "big" events in NJ every year that stand out?

Yes, there is one that I always attend called the Andiamo Benefit run, people come to it from all over Tri-State, South NJ, PA and New England areas. It starts in North NJ, ride goes over the upper level of GW Bridge, then back into the North NJ area near the NY State border. The amount of bikes there usually cover both sides of GW Bridge end to end and we get full Police escort, so no stops for the 75 to 100 miles covered.
