Hello from Vancouver, Canada
Brand new Harley owner here. Figured I'd introduce myself here and let you know a little about me.
I'm a fairly new rider; only been riding for about 5 years. I started off on a little Yamaha VStar 250, then moved to a Kawasaki ER-6N, and now onto my Dyna Low Rider S.
Its funny, I never really considered a Harley but what I realized after riding my Kawasaki for 4 years was that I wanted a cruiser. I went to Polaris, Kawasaki, and Honda demo days to try and find the right next bike for me. A few grabbed my attention but nothing wow'ed me. A buddy of mine suggested Harley Davidson and so thinking it couldn't hurt we made our way down to the dealership. After telling the salesman what I was looking for he threw me on a used sportster with a Stage 3 kit installed. As soon as I fired it up the sound and rumble of that motor immediately made me smile. Something about that bike just sang to me, and had something that those other dozen bikes I rode was missing.
I took it out and while it didn't beat any speed records I had way more fun on it then I have had in years. Sadly it wasn't meant to be, as soon as I got back the salesman regrettably told me it sold while I had it out (good thing I didn't drop it). The salesman then proceeded to tell me that a demo day was coming up in about a month and I should go. So I did. As soon as I arrived 1 bike really stood out, the Low Rider S. I had to try it.
I compared Dyna's to Softails and for fun hopped on a Street Glide and found that I had a thing for the Dyna family. It seemed about the size I wanted and the rumble at red lights reminded me I was on a Harley. Finally I got to ride the Low Rider S and that was it. I wanted one. Unfortunately the dealer didn't have any in stock, there was a waiting list of 4 or 5 people all with deposits down.
In October I got a call from the dealer telling me that one came in and apparently the guys with deposits down wanted to wait till spring before buying it. The sales manager didn't want to sit on it for 3 months so he put it up for sale. I worked with the dealer to make sure I wouldn't loose any money and warranty time by buying it in the fall and we worked out a deal. Now I'm eagerly waiting for spring to jump on my new ride. And here I am, browsing the forums trying to scratch my itch.
