I'm officially a first time Harley-Davidson owner after years of riding predominately sport bikes (I also own a Ducati 748 w/ a 996 transplant).
How I came about owning the bike is a bit interesting. I had a 2003 F-250 6.0L Powerstroke up for sale on CL and a guy contacted me about a potential trade for a 2013 Breakout. He liked the truck and even though I initially thought the bike was too heavy as well as not a good fit for my riding style, I agreed to go through with the trade.
I haven't ridden in over 2 years so I'm rusty skill-wise but the bike actually is quite easy to ride. Adapting to the footpeg location and controls was really the only issue to overcome initially and I'm getting the hang of it - the weight of the bike isn't an issue. I wish it had ABS but it isn't a deal breaker as far as keeping the bike.
I've spent some time refreshing my memory on safe riding skills as well as learning how to use the friction zone and rear brake since the turning radius and lean angle are very different from the Duc. Overall, I'm really impressed with the build quality of the bike, the easy clutch engagement, and the beautiful sound of the exhaust (it has a Stage 1 kit).
