I am Richard and I ride a 2000 Dyna low rider which I love to bits. My wife converted me from sports / tourers to Harleys in 2009 when we got engaged. Vicki wanted as a wedding present to teach her to ride a bike so she could ride with me on trips away. I owned a Suzuki then. When Vicki got her licence she started exploring the range of bikes available until one day she arrived home on a red XL883 which she covered with red back spiders, panniers, windscreen and back rack ( I couldn't help myself and bought her a travel bag for the rack).
I spent the next 12 months bagging her for buying a Harley but my teasing stopped the day I headed to a mates call for help. I loaded up the Suzuki with bags and readied myself to face the long ride. It was at this point that Vicki said.."Do you want to take the Harley?....it could use a long ride."
I thought about it for a few minutes and said... "OK...why not.. as long as you are ok with me taking it".
One hour later I was heading out onto the freeway with Vicki's 883. It was the best trip I have ever done on a bike... The sportie handed the trip with ease and I fell in love with the style and comfort (Not to mention the fun I had).
Anyone who says 883 sporties are not fun don't know what fun is....I was so impressed with it I decided to look at Harleys for my next bike. I rode softails, dynas, sporties until I found the lowrider (which I bought and still have today)
Vicki has her eyes on a new Street Bob now but she is trying to convince me that she cannot sell her 883 because we might want to change our rides on ocassions..... So i have done the whole circle and found myself saying those same words again
"Ok...why not"
Thanks for reading my story. Richard
