Hello and a problem
Well, first things first. I would like to say hello to you all. I just found the site, and I believe it is going to be a big help. I have been in the military for around two years and have really enjoyed it. I was recently notified that I have been selected to attend OTS and have been given a pilot slot.
Enough about me. I own a 1991 Softail, but it has not been cooperating. It has been hesitant to start for the last year and for the past three or four has not started at all without a push. I do not know a lot about bikes, so I am reluctant to take it to a dealer where they can rip me off. I don't believe it is the battery, because when I turn on the key the lights a quite bright. All I seem to get is a clicking sound when I push the start button. Before these past three to four months I would get the clicking sound, but eventually it would start to crank. Iwould appreciate any help that you all might be able to give.
Thanks and God bless

Hi
Certainly sounds to me as if it's the battery. Even if your battery is not fully charged it willilluminate the idiot lights,
but will not have enough juice to start the bike (the clicking is probably the solenoid). Charge it fully and have a mechanic check the output,it should read more than 12 volts or if you can borrow a known good battery put it in & see if it makes any difference.
good luck
