just joined! I never get tired of talking Harleys. Old & new!! I'm 60, retired 4 years ago. Now I'm building all kinds of bikes. I look for deals now-a-days. Went thru 401k fast enough! Used parts are ok by me. I think old parts add soul anyway! Still amazed at what I'm learning. The more I get into, the more I get into!! Can I ask amyone here a ? 2001 Road King and I have a 2002 wide glide front fork assembly. I mean from the neck bearings forward. Can I put FXDWG front fork assembly on the RoadKing ?
I too have been riding since I was 4. My Dad rode all his life and had a shop in Victorville CA. (Circa 1964). I rode a Honda 100 to school daily in the 3rd grade! Parked it in the schools bike rack. Kids liked it, parents didn't. I've been strictly Harley for about 20 years. Gave my 1st Harley to my son. Yep, he's into 'em bigtime too. Rode to Blaine WA, April 2015 for my sisters wedding. Beautiful area. Beautiful riding too. Except Seattle. Why do the come to a complete stop to let cars on and off the freeway ? Never seen anything like it! The RoadKing in my highway bike right. New S&S 100. 2200 miles on it. Staying with the 5 speed for now. TwinCams like to rev anyway. 585 cams, ECM removed, then added a super G. I grew up on carburetors. I've never been broke down to a point I can't get going again. Yes, FI is good & getting better. That old Martelli injection just left a little to be desired. I put 47k miles on it, but I couldn't get parts. HD inventory spreadsheets said they had em, but it took 3 weeks to get them, so they had to really look!! I carried a spare throttle position sensor for a long time. It just got outdated. The original oil pump went out. So, it was time to upgrade. The original TC88 never made over 80 HP. Me and the DYNO fought every other month. So, I kept the original cases, flywheels, and main rods. They miked out fine and I kept my Vin too. Went with gear drive cams too. Noisy? Yes. More than the chain/tensioner. But they won't break. The S&S heads are a step up too. Even with a stock TC88, the heads will wake that motor right up. I went with the Thunderheart ignition. That was a good move too. I can link a laptop up with the DYNO and change any setting. Indian uses these in their factory bikes. Good system too. Sorry to go long, I said i like to talk Harleys.
