Started riding crotch rockets in Hawaii when I was stationed on Oahu from 06-08. Later, I got a little blown up in Afghanistan in 2010 and rearranged my right hoof. Took a long time to get back on a bike, which I find pretty therapeutic like many of you here. This made the rear sets on most sport bikes and the rear brake hard to deal with.
Fast forward a bit and I picked up an old kick start only '79 Shovelhead from a buddy of mine that couldn't take her to Texas after he left the Teams in the Navy (blame his wife). This was a bit ambitious on one not quite so functioning foot, but I'm learning the bike and she likes to balk back in a language I don't fully understand.
I'll be harassing the gray beards for their knowledge... often.
