been a member for a short while and thought it time i introduced myself.
i live in chicago suburbia and work in the windy city
20+ years ago i owned a honda 750 set up for the road and a yamaha 250 dirt. sold both when my first born turned 2. took the money and bought a ?????? snow-blower.
always wanted to get another bike - harley was always in the back of my mind(seeing as i was born in milwaukee, it seemed fitting)
last oct, coming home from a saturday shopping spree with my daughter (oldest, now 23), my nephew (who ignorantly sold a springer) and my nephew's 3 yr old son - the 3 yr old had to make a pit stop - well Illinois Harley-Davidson Inc in berwyn, il has public johns - so we stopped there - spent about an hour. my daughter fell in love with an '06 sportster. by tue the next week my daughter was an owner of a new hd.
that was enough impetous for me to get one
so last march i bough it and picked it up in may
new '07 black cherry ultra
have done cycle shack slip ons (and the necessary kit, etc), luggage rack, heated grips, and lever fringe (braided, impressed the wife that i knew how to braid)
haveonly 1600+ on it so far(don't take it to work as chicago traffic is bad enough in acage) but have enjoyed every minute (except for the one time i dumped it, my bad, but amazingly not one single scratch)
for now just practicing and getting use to it,getting better everyday, but have a long way to go
now i have to work on getting the daughter to put on more miles - she only has like 350 andhalf of that i was driving
