Hi, after riding and abusing japanese streetbikes for over 30 years (8 years competitive road racing all over Europe) we moved to the US 3 years ago. Now I feel ready for a Harley(getting old I guess) , doubting between a Breakout or Fatboy . Gonna make a testride next week . Only drove a Heritage softail once and didn't really please me... Any advise is very welcome . Thanks Peter

Welcome to HDF Peter. Knowing you ride a bike as it's designed, I chose an Electroglide as my go to scoot. It is heavy as hell, and a turd in comparison to most any other design out there, but it has kept me safe and sane. Not one wheelie in almost 9 years on it and no burnouts either. I do still however enjoy some twisty roads still which has taken its toll on the outside edges of my floorboards. Lol Their is also a misnomer concerning leaning to far on this design bike as the cast footboard braces can lift your rear wheel off the ground if taken over to far. not a pretty sight or feel. It's possible you might try various design schemes before deciding which is best for you. Go for it. Life's getting shorter every day, but do be safe.
Also note that their are as many answers as their are active participants on this forum. If you would like to consider a much smaller and friendlier forum in which to discuss all things scoot and travel related may I recommend checking out the Doof Clenas collective. Read through the origins, anthology, guidelines and requirements, then register and introduce yourself to the forum in the My story, the beginning sub forum. I believe you will be simultaneously amused and excited at the activity level for such a small scooter forum. I go by the same name on that forum as well. Much love and respect from this side of the big ditch Peter. I hope you enjoy many years of riding pleasure throughout these United States of America.
