Good morning all,
Long haul trucker by trade, biker as time allows. I ride a 1989 FLHTCU with what I believe, without verifying has a 1997 80 cubic inch evo in it. I’m just starting to have some problems. I’m a recent buyer of this, but know the previous owner, who had it for 5 years. It started popping back through the carburetor and then it will backfire out the pipes. This “Was” only happening under low or medium throttle, like coming through a town. It starts and idles fine. Under full power, it was fine until yesterday. Now it’s popping and backfiring a lot. I’ve drained all the gas and changed the plugs. It has been upgraded to electronic ignition, but still appears to be the stock carburetor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ve owned equipment for years and believe it is something simple, but would appreciate some help. Thanks so much.
