Gloucester, UK - Possible HD rider
Hi y'all, Just scouting around for information at the moment.
I've always been a dedicated Honda rider, since 1974 on and off, currently riding the most amazing bike ever the CTX1300.
Only problem I have with it is the weight. At 350kg (around 770lb), and me being 70 years old now, I do drop it when manouvering around by hand and then have to pick it up. I'm getting good at picking it up, must be all the practice I get!
So, I'm going this morning to look at an XL1200T, 2016 model. If I like the feel of it I'll book a test ride.
What I've found on previous test rides is that I don't like the platform footplates on the Harley's but I see the XL1200 has pegs which will suit me better.
I would like to know what range you get out of a tank full of fuel, there doesn't appear to be a fuel gauge on the display that I have seen. Can anyone advise on this?
I'll let you know how it goes.
Cheers, and if I finish up buying it you'll see a lot more of me! my YouTube channel is, if anyone is interested (no adverts, no financial gain) https://www.youtube.com/user/007djro...=dd&shelf_id=0
During my 2 day trip to france 2/3 June 2019. Abbaye de Belval, where I stayed the night.

Thanks Sloufoot and @kel03 , Nice trike and I see you are 'Patriot Guard'. I think that is something like I belong to, the Royal British Legion Riders Branch. We attend ceremonies, veterans repatriations when their bodies are returned to the UK, Veterans funerals, Commemorations, and shows and events raising funds for the RBL Poppy Appeal which is used to help both military serving and veteran personnel.
I've just been to see the XL1200T, nice bike and it felt good just sitting on it with the engine throbbing away. I've pulled a hamstring in the top back of my leg so not test riding until after this this coming week. Next weekend I'm riding up to Leeds (175 miles from where I live) to marshal at the RBLR1000 event. It's a 1,000 miles 'saddlesore' (Iron Butt UK) ride in 24 hours. I did it last year but my wife was worried all the time and doesn't want me to do it because I'm now officially 'Elderly'!!!! and I'm only 70! So I said I'd do marshalling this year.
If they haven't sold it after next weekend I look forward to a test ride and see how that goes.
Thanks for the welcome.
Cheers
Dave

Welcome also from the UK.
I didn't have a fuel gauge on my Sportster just a reserve light that would illuminate.
Google is your friend....
"Based on data from 1 vehicles, 25 fuel-ups and 3,625 miles of driving, the 2016 Harley Davidson XL1200T SuperLow 1200T gets a combined Avg UK MPG of 52.43 with a 3.16 UK MPG margin of error."
The tank holds 4.5 US gallons which equates to 3.74 Imperial. Based on the figures above you should get a healthy 196 miles out of a tank filled to the gunnels and running it totally dry.

I'm looking into the bits and pieces of the bike via google and youtube!
Cheers, I'll let you know what the future holds for me and HD.
