Just to start off, I'm 39 years olddon't even know how to ride a motorcycle, but I am going to take a rider training course and get my license next month.
When I do decide to get my first motorcycle, I believe it will be a Harley. I can't afford much, so I have been looking at the basic Sportster 883. I want to ask all you Harley owners and enthusiasts if my choice will bea good one without having to consider getting a more expensive model or going to a Japanese brand.
My use for the bike will just be for afternoon rides on my days off work or just local trips around the neighborhood. Maybe use it to go to work and once in awhile. It will not be used for long, cross country road trips. I have a car, so the bike will not be my main source of transportation. I will probably have to keep it parked outside in the parking lot of the condo complex I live at. What is the best anti-theft devices?
Any other advice, tips and opinions on the Sportsters is appreciated.
Howdy, welcome to the forum. I have seen many start out with a Sporty and some of them have kept them and some of them have upgraded to a larger bike, it all depends on you and what you feel is best for you. Good luck
Welcome from Pa! The 883 sporty is a great 1st bike imo. You can always upgrade later when ya feel more comfortable with a larger bike. Try to get one with factory security , works great. Good luck !!

Welcome from Atlanta. The beautiful thing about a Harley is the ability to build as you go. In no time you'll have all the bells and whistles that make the bike truely your own. As far as security, got sliding glass doors that allow you to drive it into your living room? Agree with Tourch, get the factory system. And a good quality cover that allows air transfer, not much humidity in AZ but for the few times it does rain you don't want that moisture to settle in too much.
