Hello from Australia
I took a photo of the Softail, went back to work. Couldn't stop thinking about it, went back at lunch and took some more photos. Couldn't sleep that night for thinking about it. To cut a long story short, I ended up swapping my FXDWG for the FLST.
The FXDWG was fast, reliable and boring. The FLST, by comparison had so much more personality, and I wasn't afraid to work on it, however heading into winter the problems started to surface, so here I am. I spend a lot of time reading, researching, and generally like to sort my own problems out, but sometimes you get to the point where you need to ask for help.
My partner complains that I had a perfectly good bike before and traded it for a crappy bike that won't start, but to me, the FLST is the kind of bike I used to dream to dream of owning thirty years ago, when I was 20 and poor and reading bike magazines.
Also, it turns out that the previous owner (whose name was Cameron, and was 52) died of pancreatic cancer last year, and from the work that had been done to it, I'm sure he loved the bike. I am also 52, my name is also Cameron, and I suffered through surgery and radiation therapy for throat cancer last year. So I have that connection to Cameron, and to his bike, and feel that I have taken up his torch, and run with it. I also like to think that wherever he is now, he can see how much I love the bike, and how much I like riding it.
