Damn! Quite the welcoming committee. Thanks guys. Here is a pic of what I just acquired...I also had 2005 Road King, 1990 Heritage, 1982 FXR (Shovelhead), and the obligatory 1989 1200 Sporty. Actually just found the factory service manual on ebay, as its really the only book worth having. Funny you mention fuel mileage...I was recently social distancing with a buddy on our dirtbikes. I have an 2001 yamaha with a carb (and reserve) and he has a new suzuki (fuel injected, no reserve)...guess who ran out of gas. Not this guy! Good times!
let me see if I can dig up some pics... here's the new mistress Im the one with my little girl on my shoulders. Thats about 8 years ago. This may be the only pic I have left of my favorite bike in the world. 82 FXR. In the back of my 67 pickup (first car...still have her).

I had an early '84 FXRS for 10 years, that was my favorite bike too and I wish I still had it.
It was an early EVO so everything else but the motor was same as a Shovel, dry clutch, chain drive etc.
I think a lot of us former FXR owners feel the same way.
I also had an EVO E-Glide,it was an '89 Ultra Classic.
I traded it in on a new 2000 Twincam E-Glide Classic on 1/15/2000 and sold the FXR about a year later to help pay off the new bagger.
20 years later I still have the 2000 with close to 200K miles on it and just bought a new 2019 M-8 E-Glide Standard.
The 2000 has nearly everything rebuilt including a potent 103" stroker motor, thinking I might try to trade it for another FXR.
