Hello from Nodak
First time owner here and pretty green to the motorcycle world. April of 2019 I purchased my first cycle, a 2001 Road King Classic. I've been wanting a cycle since I was a junior in high school but just never worked out so now now 14ish years later at the time of purchase here I am.
I purchased the bike off Ebay which was something I never envisioned doing but it was a very good experience from beginning to end. I purchased it from California which leads me to maybe a small chance of hope that someone on here may recognize it and would maybe be able to put me in touch with a previous owner. I know that would be a very long shot but worth throwing out there. I would like to know what's been done to it as far as motor work.
Anyways just a few details of the bike; its pretty much a standard classic but its had the bags swapped on it from what I can tell and had the guards added around them as well. It has a baker 6 DD which I absolutely love and maybe I'm dreaming but with that trans that's what makes me believe its had motor work done to it cause its pretty peppy compared to my dads 07 Heritage Softail. It has 47K miles on it and just recently changed all fluids. I know about the cam chain tensioners that these motors are known for failing but have not yet checked that as I didn't notice any material in the oil granted I know that's not a for sure way of knowing without checking so I need to do that sooner than later I know. Pretty sure I have the dreaded shifter shaft seal as I get a little drop of primary fluid on the ground after riding. Am by no means an expert on motorcycles just looking forward to getting acclimated to the forum and some conversation with other members.
