Hello from Ohio
Been visiting the forum for awhile now and finally decided on getting the full experience. Currently riding a 2009 Fatboy FLSTF with around 12,000 miles on her; very well maintained and logged. As much as I love how a lot of you guys' glides look, I really have an interest for the softail setup. I like the easy maneuverability and style of them and like most love the look of that old school classic Harley Fatboy. And I'm only 25 so I have plenty of time before I need a big touring bike. That being said some upgrades are in the near future. You will likely see a new thread in the coming month or so as i plan to do a little bit of upgrading various pieces and parts. Taking me a little bit so that I don't end up missing something and having to wait days for other parts to come in that I didn't think about. I enjoy participating in a lot of the local rides so maybe I'll see some of you from the NE Ohio region around some time.
Current set up:
2009 FLSTF
96 CI V-Twin
V&H Big Radius 2 into 2 curved exhaust
Screamin' Eagle Heavy Breather Intake
Boss Handlebar Speakers
Smoked Turn Signals
LED accent lights
To come:
16" Carlini Menace Apes
Braided Stainless Steel lines
New Grips (From a local Shop)
Flush mount fuel gauge and gas cap
Bad dad 992 Floorboards Front and Rear
Forward Controls
Kuryaken Scythe Mirrors
Kuryaken Mark IV extended Highway bars + pegs
HD Adaptive Daymaker Headlamp
Progressive Front Drop in Lowering Kit (+ a little heavier fork oil)
Rear Lowering kit
Leatherworks 312XL Solo bag
AND getting rid of those fork reflectors.
Then once I get all that done, change all the fluids, clean that air filter and do the 2500 mile service checklist and shine her up and we'll be ready for this nasty weather to cease so we can all get out on the open road.
Let me know what your thoughts are on the mods or things I should keep an eye out for while I take things apart and service them through the process. All knowledge and tips are appreciated as I am not super experienced in Harley Davidson mechanic work. I'm mechanically inclined however most of this is new and just going by the service manual.
Best,
Collin

I tell a lot of new comers to the forum to get: Factory Service manual and the Parts manual. Get a three ring binder and record all your maintenance, repairs, accessories, etc. This will be a great reminder of what was done when. And great material to pass along to the new owner should you sell and upgrade. Also know how large your fuel tank is, a rough idea of your range per tank, and record your fuel usage. I have an app called Simply Auto that I record all my fuel used. I use the odometer and use the fuel gage as reference only. I reset the odometer to zero on fill ups, and I know I can safely get 200 miles on a tank on around town riding, and upwards of 230+ on trips.
Good Luck!!
