The short version... finally getting the chance to get my first new Harley after 25 years...
Decided on the 2008 Road King Classic. Spent time at several dealerships and finally talked price today at our local dealer.
The price quoted was just as stated on the Harley web site, EXCEPT the sales guy added $600 for 'dealer prep'.
They were willing to negotiate and not charge me the $345 for the HD Security.
OK, I am NOT a cheap guy, but I do not like being gouged. And, I suppose they do have to spend some time actually setting the bike up from the crate, BUT $600??
The Harley web site makes no mention of dealer prep.
I'm hoping that some of you may have some experience with this.
Any advice, like "shut up and pay it", or maybe "go somewhere else"....??
Howdy Sam, welcome to the forum. Personally, considering the price of the bike, I wouldn't worry about the prep price. Maybe, if you feel like it, you can negotiate pricing in another area. Good luck
Thanks guys... appreciate the welcome and the info... yeah, I guess I should have searched for existing threads instead of just barging in with this... anyway, much appreciated. will let you know what I find out.
