Greetings Everyone. New guy here and new guy to the Harley Davidson world. Long time rider of everything other than HD's. Tried to talk myself into it many times and just always shied away. Something stuck in my head some years back that was told to me by an older [ older than me ] gentleman. - He said everyone should own a Harley at least once in your life. I'm not getting any younger as they say so I'm now a Harley Davidson owner. I have followed HD's over the years and many friends have HD's. I always thought the FatBoy was a good looking bike when it came out in 1990. I love d the look of the Streetglide when it came out also. A pristine 2002 all original showed up for sale and at a price that I just could not pass up the opportunity to give it a go. Well I have to say after having it for the last month it's pretty dang fun. I have went over the bike nose to tail and have to save -- Some of my HD thoughts over the years may have been unfounded. The thing is built like a tank, or very much like my old Ford 8N tractor. It really is quite the machine ! It's got fun all over it and very impressed so far with it's construction.
I also have a Triumph Bonneville and a Yamaha Tracer 900GT and yes,,,,, a Yamaha Majesty 400 scooter. So I have the whole range covered now. All fun and all very different ! Most of my adult life I rode and raced sport bikes so this is quite a change. I bought my Triumph many years ago on kind of a whim. I have a Brit friend that is all Triumph and somehow I got sucked into the Triumph world. It was way out of my normal bike comfort zone but I found it to be a lot of fun and been a great bike. My Tracer still gives my the sport bike fun. The scooter --- that's just something that happened - but it's dang fun too!
So after reading many posts here and another HD site I chose to sign up here over the other site and be part of the group. This really seemed like a good fit. I also figured that way if something good comes up in the classifieds or I have questions I cannot find answers for I will be able to participate. I'm in the learning curve with this bike so I like to soak up all I can. As a retired aerospace engineer I love mechanical and love quality.
Anyone has a factory HD manual for the early Softails let me know. I have a Clymer I ordered and it will do but I would really like the factory version if I can find one.

We had a BOMB MAKING room but, well, ahhhhh, 1 of the guys just didn't understand Blasting Caps very well so..... you know.
