I guess I will be the negative one here. My son quit riding years ago after a divorce. He remarried and has a 3 year old daughter and a 5 month old son, and a sweet wife. A Fat Boy came up for sale and, he wanted to buy it, for a decent price. He called me. I told him if he did he wouldn't have to worry about an accident on the bike.
I also told him If he trusted every non blinker using, texting, inattentive ******* on the road, go ahead and buy it. He didnt. I don't believe anyone with young kids should ride, but that's just my feelings. Everyone has the right to do as they please. To each their own. O.P. If you are riding scared, stay off the bike.
welcome to the forum.
Welcome from Wisconsin. I didn't start riding until my youngest graduated from high school. My wife was an ER nurse. There is a reason they call them donorcycles. I've been riding 17 years with no accidents, 75k miles.
My sons have their license but ride sparingly since having kids. You have to make up your own mind. You can eliminate a lot of risk by taking the MSF course, only riding sober, and not riding at night in deer country.
