Dyno Tuning or Tuning Module?
I'm not sure if I should go with only a Dyno Tune, which will cost about $500, or go with a tuner like the Power Vision or similar, or both. I don't see a need to do both. I was gobsmacked at how expensive the Dyno is.
I'm 67. This is my 6th bike, 3rd Harley. I bought this RGS new 3/17. I don't put 1,000s of miles on a bike anymore. I put over 22,000 on my 94 Dyna in 7 months before it was stolen. I might go for an over night trip here and there but, no more Iron Butt rides. So, I can't justify spending gobs of money on this tuning issue.
TIA!

Either way, you still need a tuning device . Power Vision, TTS Mastertune, Direct Link, etc, are all just devices that allow for editing the tables in the ECM. They all offer base maps, so you can self tune in the closed loop areas. Dyno tuning is a convenient way to measure what is happening in all gears/ throttle positions, both closed and open loop, which is difficult to do on the street (and expensive if you get caught) . The chosen tuning device allows me to edit requested AFR, then I can measure what the AFR actually is on the dyno, then use the tuning device to calibrate the VE so AFR measured = AFR desired. I can also edit timing tables to see if there is better efficiency to be had.
