Ive got a Vespa GTS 200 which is getting a bit boring. I have had it for 18 months. I have been riding for that long as well.
I'm thinking of looking into Harleys but I dont really know where to start so I'm wondering if some of you out there can give me the benefit of your experience.
What would you recommend as the "beginner's harley"?
How easy are they to ride - someone told me that their easier than a scooter because they weigh more......
imho, buy what you want to keep. 18 months of riding indicates that you've been bit by the "Riding Bug". Withdrawal may be impossible. All Harleys are big, all are heavy but your body will follow your mind, your mind will follow your heart. You will be surprised what you can and will master when motivated by the Love of the Ride. Once you sit on one and fire it up, if it tugs on your heartstrings, I'd say get it!
Besides, you already had a "starter bike". If you have not taken a MSF safety course, I would highly reccommend it.
welcome to the world.
depending on how much riding you plan to do. the 1200 sportster looks like a good bike. never owned one but sat on a few and it just felt right. seems like it would be a fun bike to ride. don't rush it, read here for awhile, think about how you plan to ride. ie: in town errands, commute, weekend country road riding, full blown touring, or just middle of the road.
Welcome from Columbus, Georgia. Check out a Sportster, 1200. My first Harley was an 03 Lowrider, but I'd been riding for about 30 years previous - all on Hondas. Someone told me that, with my experince, if I bought the 1200, I'd soon wish I had purchased the bigger Lowrider, they were right. My 2 cents worth.
You'll find me most often on the Touring Forum.
