First ride and first post (sort of)
Hi, folks!
I've been lurking here for a few weeks trying to get as much gen as I can on all things Harley. I started a 6 day Riders' Edge beginner's training course here in the UK yesterday (started on Suzuki 125s) and did my first ever road miles on a bike today...a whole 40 of them...and every one of them on a Harley! An XL1200R Sportster to be exact. Wow! I now know what the word "Torque" means. That thing pulls like a freight train! (and it's the SMALL motor??? What are the big motors like?)
Had a complete blast and I now understand what I've been missing all these years. I never got it about riding bikes. Now I do. I've got another few days of riding here in the beautiful Welsh hills (God's country, as my Welsh instructor keeps telling us) and I can't wait to get back to it again tomorrow!
Thanks for letting me lurk and breathe in all the atmosphere here on the forums. They've helped me a lot in knowing what to expect in riding. Right now I'm leaning toward buying a 1200 Custom, but that's without having ridden anything else. The beauty about Riders' Edge is that they have about 20 bikes to choose from so I might have a chance to ride something from every model range while I'm here.
I think this is going to be a great vacation!!!
