Hello all, Just got back into riding on two wheels, thanks to my daughter in law and my son. First time Harley owner, i have rode them before, while my GoldWing was down with a bad stator. It has been too many years since I rode last, like 16 years. It sure does bring back a big smile to ride again. Picked up a 2010 Ultra Classic with 24k miles on it. It needs some cleaning up on the wheels, but it looks pretty good over all. I did notice it looks like the riders strap handle was dropped onto a hot exhaust after being unbolted from the left side. A few scratches (light) on the saddle bag lids, (possible shoe/boot dragging). Tires were old, from 2013 and 2015, I replaced them to have the peace of mind. Changed all the oils to synthetic. Picked it up the end of Aug, 2023, have added approx. 2k miles. Have to do something with the lower fairing glovebox doors as the left one just won't snap up and stay on. I do have to admit I really like the riding position on the Harley vs the Goldwing. My son and I took a ride across the state,(MI), to Grand Haven, on the back roads then the expressway back to my place in Howell. Just over 300 miles. I'm sore but happy I could do it at 66YO and with 6 bolts and two rods in my back. Saw on the site here that a lot of you go to meet and greets, I think I will have to go to one of those.

Welcome from Spartan Country, Michigan!
I tell a lot of new comers to the forum to get: Factory Service manual and the Parts manual. Take to an office supply store and have them put a spiral binder in place of the glued binder. That will let the manuals lay flat on your bench. Get a three ring binder and record all your maintenance, repairs, accessories, etc. This will be a great reminder of what was done when. And great material to pass along to the new owner should you sell and upgrade. Also know how large your fuel tank is, a rough idea of your range per tank, and record your fuel usage. I have an app called Simply Auto that I record all my fuel used. I use the odometer and use the fuel gage as reference only. I reset the odometer to zero on fill ups, and I know I can safely get 200 miles on a tank on around town riding, and upwards of 230+ on trips.

I have been looking for a service manual, I saw your post about doing the spiral binder, and thought it was a great idea. It is in my plans. Thank you

Welcome Dennis.

Hope you continue to enjoy your ride here with us on the HDFORUM.

Only as a suggestion, but very important, create a signature line similar to mine on your bike with the year, model, and all the letters Harley assigned to the bike. It will appear at the bottom of your post.

You can also add a favorite picture to the signature line.

Doing this will be helpful if you ask a question or to someone asking a question. All Harleys aren't the same with many changes and variations over the years.

You can also add a favorite picture for an Aviator postage stamp you see at the top left of your post.
