Default Panhead frame

Can anyone tell me what the J 5 stamp number means? I think this is a 1965 frame but the J is throwing me off

The J 5 is just visible

J is the month, 5 is the year.

Welcome to the HDFORUM, Lois.

See you got your answer.

I hope you continue to enjoy your ride here.

Only as a suggestion, by me as a USER, create a signature line similar to my one line on my bike information.

The year, model, and all the letters Harley assigned to the bike. It will appear at the bottom of your post.

Doing this will be helpful if you ask a question. All Harleys aren't the same with many changes and variations over the years.

Of course, you can add it to any thread with a question.

You can also add any other details you choose and a favorite picture to the signature lines.

If you like, you can also add another favorite picture for an Avatar you see at the top left of all your posts as a postage stamp.

Can you explain to me how (what) the letter is the month and what year the 5 implies? Is there a chart I can look at that explains and shows this? Is very comfusing to me. Thanks for your information, Lois

5 = 1965
J = October (10th letter of alphabet = 10th month of the year)
That is when the frame was made. Could be a later 1965 frame or early 1966 frame.
