Hello from WV. About 15 years ago I went to my local H-D dealer to buy a super glide. I was told that I had to put down $500 and go on a waiting list for about a year. That was ok with me but they would not take my money that day, they said the owner had to be there. After abput a week of calling they told me to come on down. As I was about to wright the check I asked the price again of the bike hoping to save the money in the year of waiting. They raised the price $1500 from the previous quote. After a short disscussion they told me sorry about your luck. So I told them to get f***ed. So I went to another dealer about 50 miles away. The price was the cheaper amount there, but thet said they could not sell me a bike because I didn't live in their franchise area and the other dealer would get a new bike to sell the next year rather than them. Seems backwards to me.
So I ended up buying a 1400 Intruder. Used Harleys were impossable to find at the time and prices were outragious.
Then I got married had 2 kids and bought a house. As you know those things are expensive. So it has taken me a while to get to where I could buy another bike, and I was kind of mad about the whole Harley experience for a while. I have been very happy with my Intruder, I have done a lot of work to it and put 30,000 miles on it, but I never felt right about it. I know a lot of people think nothing of owning forign vehicles, and there are a lot of products that you can't help but buy forign made, but I try to buy American when possable. And plus I wanted a Harley since I was a kid.
Finely I was able to find a 2006 Street Bob for a price I could afford and Ilove it! I rode about 250 miles in the last week, I guess the wait has made it that much better!
from Virginia. Ironhorselady and I love riding over there. We rode up to Blackwater Falls last Saturday. I'm sure you already know there are no bad motorcycle roads in WV. Sorry you had to wait so long but glad you could work it out.
