I haven't posted anything yet but I've done a little reading here and figured I should introduce myself. I'm Tim and I have averaged around 17000 miles annually over the past 5 years. Have ridden since 74 and had a bike since then except for 94 - 01 when other priorities had to come first. Close to 1/2 million miles total on various Asian, German and American bikes. I was a Motorcycle Safety Instructor for 7 years in a couple of states before giving it up due to limiting back problems. I don't rebuild bikes but I do most of the scheduled maintenance on my own and some friends bikes. I gave 26 years service to the US military and now work full time for them in a contract job. I am originally from south eastern Ohio but enjoyed MT too much to leave so here I'll stay since 1988.
Current rides:
2006 FLHTCUSEI 28,000
2008 FLHR 1788 Traded a RK Custom on this one after 6200 miles (hurt my back too much to take it more than 200 miles in a day)
2006 Honda Gold Wing 5400 (variety is the spice of life) except in women perhaps, I picked one 33 years ago and will stick with that.
Recent rides now departed:
2004 Road Glide
2005 Road King (Carbureted, never did run right, rejetted, replaced carb under warranty, we just couldn't get it.5 sets of plugs in 7200 miles and burned oil like a heat stove)
2002 Kawasaki Nomad
1992 Tour Glide
Before that a beemer K100RT and lots of metrics.
Harleys are more fun but anything with two wheels will do in a pinch. Some I'm sure will disagree but buy what ya can afford and enjoy it is the way I see it.
Tim
