I have a 2001 XL-1200 with a leak. The substance is a white'ish oily/slick substance that has NO ODOR! It appears to be coming from behind the oil tank and drips down onto the swing arm. It only leaks when ridden never just sitting. This started after I replaced my rear rocker box gaskets (something I have done before). I do not believe it is oil from the engine as the color does NOT match and is odorless, not to mension I am not showing ANY loss of oil level on the dip stick. I do not believe it is from the primary as the color does NOT match that either and the level has not changed. It is not anything I have been able to locate as of yet.

P.S. Water is not part of the equation.

 

Maybe the wife is gettin' even for you using the oven to heat your bearings?

Not sure where the battery is on a sportster nut on my old Kawi Standard there used to be a white dischargenear the battery vent line. Maybe way off base but you never know.

 

 

Shoot! That was gonna be my guess.
