Default Night Train Customizing

Just bought a used 2006 Night Train to keep my 2006 Sporty 1200 company. I'm planning to customize the Night Train. So far I've bought a EZ200 kit from Heartland USA and a custome flamed gas tank from HD. Have the service manual and I've done some light work on my bikes in the past but nothing to this magnitude. The EZ 200 kit comes with a choipped replacement fender, solo seat, side mount tailight kit and custom tailights. Also planning on lowering the bike in the rear. First step though is taking off the old gas tank and replacing it with the custom one I bought. It's new and presumably pressure tested but has been sitting around and has some dus t particles in it. What do I use to clean it out and how do I seal the hole openings until I install it? Also, what type of sealer do I use on the connections, if any?
