Default Chaps

Greetings,
Need to buy my first pair of chaps? Any ideas, recommendations, suggestions or comments?! I live in the Los Angeles area. Is online shopping for chaps an option? Fire away and let me know. Thanks in advance!

Lots of places to buy chaps. Harley of course. Just do a Google search for motorcycle chaps
and you'll get over a million hits.

Ya gonna find all kinds of prices. The leather thickness that they are made of will probably be the major difference.
Cheaper Chaps will be thinner. Look for Double stitching, always look for YKK Zippers.

You can get lined and non-lined. Depending on the average temp where you ride.
I live near Memphis, Tn. I found a pair of nonlined chaps in a Pawn Shop go figure. But I am shopping for a pair of lined.

Care and feeding. Saddle soap and mink oil. The saddle soap will clean them and the mink oil will protect them from water and keep them soft.

Welcome to HDF and Enjoy

I found that trying them on was the way to go.

I sized 3x, but when I tried them on, they didn't fit.

It was the legs that were the issue. The waist is closed all the way and im on the tightest setting.. but the thighs are really snug. Stretching though, so they are comfortable now.

Don't forget to take your keys out before you put them on

Jammin Leather WEB LINK is a good place to shop. My chaps and my coat came from there, and they have some nice deals too. I am very happy with what I bought, and they have a very nice sizing chart to help you too.

You really have to try them on. You almost always want them to be a little tight in the thighs when they are new. That way they don't stretch and look all baggy.

Buy them longer than your pants too. You want them to fit while you're sitting on your bike.

Ride them in the rain a few times and let them dry while you ride and they will fit like a glove, especially a glove that you rode with in the rain and let dry on your hands.

You pay a lot extra for the HD chaps, you can get them better and cheaper at rallies or swap meets.
