Default Chaps?

I commute to work most everyday although I live in North Florida It get's pretty cold at 6 am. I have never thought about chaps, but seeing all these recent threads I'm convinced I'll get a pair for this winter. Any recommendations on what I should look for would be appreciated. I need to be able to put them on quickly and remove them when I get to work. I won't need them for my ride home. They will most likely reside in my saddlebags.

Go see The Leather Lady at Pecan park flea market. Top of the line leather, does excellent custom work, and stands behind her stuff 110%. She also has a shop near the north side on main street.

Look for quality and thickness of leather. Generally, the heavier weight chaps tend to be better constructed and will 'do their thing' much better than a paper thin pair. If you are going to saddle up with chaps you might as well get a decent pair. Some come with a zip-out thermal lining while some don't. I'd recommend buffalo or horse hide (if you can find it). I've seen chaps as low as $29 and over $400.
Somewhere around $100 or so the quality starts getting pretty good and will last you years and years and years.

Thanks now I'll be up all night. I thought Halloween was at the end of the month. I guess I'll just have to freeze in the morning like last winter.

I just bought a pair of black insulated bib overalls, They keep me toasty warm. They don't look as cool as chaps, but hey, they do the job. Maybe I will set a new trend. LOL
