Looks like I should introduce myself. Just signed up on the board this afternoon. I've been hangin' around for a couple weeks and like the discussions and topics. I'm a 50 something who just got back into bikin' last spring. Haven't ridden in 25+ years. Never even been on a Harley until I bought "Flash". 05 Ultra Classic, Lava Red. The wife and I have put 22K on her since June 1, 2005. I've got kind of a sweet deal - I travel all over the SEast and guess what, I ride every chance I get, business and pleasure. You wouldn't believe what triggered the need to ride again...but we'll leave that for another day. I'm a Road Captain for the local Hog Chapter. Even though I haven't ridden for a while it didn't take long for the old tricks to come back. Maybe I stayed away long enough to get rid of all the old bad habits and learn how to ride with the rubber side down. I must have done somethin' right...I bought a small rice burner and taught my wife to ride. Now she's ridin' her own too. (But not a Harley yet)
We've done a little work on the bike, SE Air Filter, SE Stage 1 Download, Reinhart Tru Duals (on the way UPS), lighted turn signal saddle bad latches, tour pack spoiler with brake light, and naturally a "little bit of extra chrome".
Me and my wife are year round riders, especially here in the South. All we want to do "IS RIDE!"
Lookin' forward to paticipating in what looks so far to be a great place to learn and share the experience.
So far, we've got a pretty amitious schedule of rides - Myrtle Beach (spring meet), Billings Nat'l HOG, Tn State HOG.
Welcome from Rainy Vancouver, WA. I too am a Road Captain for our Local HOG Chapter. I ride mainly Sweep. I am also an Officer for Ladies Of Harley. This is a great place and lots of fun people to meet. Are you planning to go to The National HOG Rally in Billings MT ? let me know as we have a small group going and we are planning a get together.
Yes Haji4, we are going to Billings to the National HOG. So far we've for 4 bikes riding up together. I've planned a route of around 4,500 mi.
My wife Shirley and I got a wild hair and rode to Chattanooga last year to HOG. We're out in Wast TN. No reservations, nothing! We had ony been riding for about a month so a 300 trip was a big deal for us. We only ran up on 3 other people form our HOG Chapter. That was pretty disappointing considering it was in our home state. From that time, collectively, we've totally revamped our HOG Chapter from top to bottom. Granted we're not in a metro area like Memphis or Nashville, who both have around 1,000 members each, but we have decided that we can do a little better than that dismal showing. We've got a goal of 100 interested and regular riders.
We'll keep in touch here on the board and keep you advised of our schedule got HOG.
