I am 33 years old and I have not owned a bike in about 18 years. A month ago I had no interest in motorcycles, NONE! So I go and visit my Dad and he has a 1200 Custom Sportster. I fall instantly in love. Now I am in need of a motorcycle bad. I have been looking at the sportsters because they look about my size (I am 5'6" and a man has to know his limitations.) On Friday I went into the local Harley shop to get a better idea of what there is out there and look at prices. Low and behold I find something that grabs my attention and will not let it go... the VRSC.
Now I am sure I don't deserve one but I think I am going to have to get one.
This is my first post and this is where I am on my Harley trip of life.

Before you buy a V-Rod check out a softail heritage or fatboy. They sit really low and have a great center of gravity. The V-Rod is a very cool bike though. I'm just giving you some more options.
Thanks for the great advice! I have all but talked myself out of the VRSC type bike. I will probably buy a much cheaper bike for the short term to cut my teeth with. At the end of the day I can not rationalize the purchase of a 15,000 dollar bike and not be sure that I will take advantage of it (I see soo many of those on line). Any suggestions for an inexpensive late model motorcycle. It does not have to be a Harley because they don't make them inexpensively.
I an not terribly handy with tools (I write computer programs for a living) so a reliable low maintenance bike is a must.
Have you thought about going to some of the Harley dealers in your area and seeing what they have in the way of a used bike? The dealership that I bought my Harley from last year every so often has some good lookin used bikes for sale and maybe they might have some sort of warranty that they would throw in with the cost of the bike. Good luck
